The short answer
There is no single best tool; the right one depends on how many calls you take, which languages your callers use and whether you want it to book appointments. Judge candidates on the same five points.
Remute is a bilingual English and Spanish AI receptionist made in Spain, and it is one of the options to compare, not the only one.
“Test it with your callers' accents, not with a demo in perfect English.”
1. Real bilingual support
Many tools list Spanish as a language but sound like a translation. Call the demo, speak Spanish with a regional accent, then switch to English halfway through. A good receptionist follows without restarting.
2. Keep your own number
The easiest setup keeps your current number and forwards calls when you cannot answer. Check that the service works with your carrier's call forwarding and whether forwarding costs extra.
3. Booking, notes and summaries
The receptionist should book into your calendar respecting opening hours and holidays, capture the caller's details and send you a summary by email or SMS after every call.
4. Human handoff and disclosure
Urgent or sensitive calls need a person. Look for a warm transfer with a spoken summary, and for a service that tells callers it is an AI assistant, as the EU AI Act requires.
5. Price and trial
Compare included minutes, overage fees and setup costs. Remute has a free plan with 5 minutes a month to try it in your browser, and Pro from €49 a month before VAT with a 7-day trial (card required, cancel during the trial and nothing is charged).
